Teaching Language or Medium of Instruction in Universities of Croatia:

Different Croatian universities and colleges use different mediums of instruction. Some of the languages offered are English, Croatian, Hungarian, German, and Italian. 2021 Scholarships in Croatia:

Croatia is a great place to study if you want to study in Europe and are on a budget as well. Croatian institutions are cheap and offer scholarships to international students. Take a look at some of them:

#1 Scholarships of Bilateral programs in Croatia:

These bilateral programs are comprised of exchanging students, implementation acts, and carrying out research projects. Under this scheme, about 400 scholarships are awarded every year. The scholarships are not just awarded to students but also to researchers, teachers, and professors. The scholarship scheme is divided into a number of categories;

      • One semester’s funding to those students studying the Croatian language in a foreign country.
      • Funding to undergraduate and graduate students.
      • Funding for Ph.D. studies which may be partial or full (12 months – 36 months)
      • Research funding to postdoctoral students for one to ten months.
      • Funding for research-related visits can be a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 10 months.
      • Summer programs.

#2 Scholarships for Research Students and/or Research Projects:

These research projects are supported and sponsored by the Ministry of Science, Education, and Sports. Under these scholarships, students from a number of countries can come to Croatia and can engage in a joint research program which will be conducted partly in their home country and partly in Croatia. About 200 projects are still on and the fields in which most researches are being performed are natural sciences, technical science, medicine, and biotechnical sciences.

The research will be funded for up to two years and the countries associated are the USA, Slovenia, India, France, Hungary, Germany, Austria, etc.

#3 Scholarships by Zagreb School of Economics and Management:

Zagreb School of Economics and Management (ZSEM) is the best business institution in the whole of Croatia. The international scholarship program by the university is quite generous and offers 28 scholarships to students enrolled in a bachelor’s program and 12 scholarships to MBA candidates. The scholarships are only open for students from the USA, New Zealand, South America, Canada, and Australia. 

The undergraduate funding is divided into two categories; one is giving out 2,000 Euros a year and the other one is giving out 1,000 Euros a year. The total budget is 36,000 EUR.

The graduate funding is also given in the same manner. The total funding is 16,000 EUR. The scholarship is initially provided for a year but can be extended subject to the fact that the recipient maintains an overall CGPA of 3.5 or more.

#4 The Central European Exchange Program in Croatia:

The Central European Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS) is an exchange program of Central Europe within which the students and teachers can get funding in the fields of education and research. The scholarship offers accommodation, medical insurance, board charges, and a monthly stipend to all the recipients, the amount of which varies from country to country. A number of countries are associated with it including but not limited to Croatia, Hungary, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Australia, Slovenia, etc. 

The students are exchanged for three months to ten months in one cohort. The recipients are not expected to pay tuition for the whole term of their scholarship.

#5 Erasmus Mundus Scholarship in Croatia:

The Erasmus Scholarships are meant for international students to be able to study in multiple countries in Europe (including Croatia). These scholarships are awarded at the Master’s level and the period of it is 12 months to 24 months. The joint master’s degree program by Erasmus is a fully-funded scholarship and offers allowances for tuition fees, library charges, laboratory charges, insurance costs, travel expenses, and installation charges. It also gives a monthly stipend to the recipients to cover their living expenses. It is open for both EU and non-EU countries, though, students from non-EU countries get a bigger share of the scholarship.
