Czech Republic Government Scholarships 2026 for Developing Countries open
The Government of the Czech Republic has officially opened applications for its prestigious Government Scholarships program, designed for citizens of selected developing countries. These scholarships, granted under the Czech Republic’s Foreign Development Cooperation framework, provide fully funded opportunities to study at public universities across the country. The deadline to apply is 30 September 2025 for the 2026/2027 academic year.
Scholarships for foreign nationals have been a core element of the Czech Republic’s development policy since the late 1950s. Over 20,000 international students have already benefited from this initiative, pursuing higher education at Czech institutions. The program continues to be implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Health, under Government Resolution No. 870 of 27 November 2024.

Applicants are typically required to pass entrance examinations at the chosen university. Additionally, those applying for English-taught programs must sit for an online English language test as part of the application.
The scholarships are reserved exclusively for foreign nationals from eligible countries. Citizens of the Czech Republic, EU member states, or those with permanent residence in the Czech Republic are not eligible.
