This UN internship is a great way to gain an insight into the work that is being carried out by the United Nations. There are UN internship opportunities for recent graduates and students in a number of areas of the UN. Every possible effort is made to ensure that the candidate’s qualifications and skillset are being utilized in the most appropriate area of the organization.

Within the UNDP, internships are offered during different times of the year. These UN internships are offered to students from various fields and subject areas. Candidates are advised to keep checking out the United Nations website to know if there is an opening that matches their profile.

These internships can be taken up at the UN headquarters, its country offices, or regional offices. The internship length is based on the candidates’ qualifications and the needs of the UN. Contracts are made for full and part-time positions during different times of the year.

Coverage of UNDP Internships

The internees of UNDP and UN internship projects will be entitled to receive the stipend, accommodation allowance, literature expense, and airfare. The details on the stipend are as follows:

Stipend:

From January 1st, 2020, interns are given a monthly stipend to cover any costs incurred during the UNDP internship. The amount given as a stipend depends upon where the candidate is doing the internship and whether or not he/she is receiving any other funding from his/her educational institution or the government.

Permanent Employment Chance:

The aim of the internship is to equip students with knowledge about the practical world by giving them real assignments and projects that they can work on. Internships with UNDP do not lead to a permanent employment offer. But, successful candidates are sometimes given more assignments within the UNDP program or are offered to work with the UN under some other program.
