NIGINTERN Internship program 2021-2022 is a research internship program being offered by NIG (National Institute of Genetics)/Department of Genetics SOKENDAI. The internship program is being offered to undergraduate and postgraduate students who are willing to gain research experience in the respective field. The research internship will be done by the students individually under the guidance of a host investigator provided by the National Institute of Genetics.
NIG Internship will cover the airfare as well as the local transport fares between the airport and NIG. The interns will reside in the Institute’s guesthouse. There will be a daily allowance of JPY1500 per day for meals.
The research program is a window for the undergraduate as well as postgraduate students who are still waiting to get their hands on a real-life research project. The program includes the training of the students on scientific research and scientific communication. The students will be given lab visits and they can discuss the research with their principal investigators. At the end of the program, the interns will prepare a presentation on the basis of their research. The NIG will be issuing certificates to the successful interns. This research program will give the students a glimpse of the future and will be able to make them realize their fields of interest in the genetics section. For the international interns, Japanese language classes are also arranged and the interns can also have an access to the graduate program lectures, seminars, and journal clubs.
Who can apply for NIGINTERN Internship?
The applicants should be from the life sciences. The applicants are required to be in the pre-final year of their respective programs like a student in the 3rd year of a 4-year bachelor program will be eligible. The students can be undergraduate and postgraduate, the only requirement is that they should be in the final year of their program. The students willing to apply for the Ph.D. program at NIG are also encouraged to apply in the program. But the students in the Ph.D. program at NIG are not eligible for the program.
