University of Oregon Scholarships 2023 for International Students
The Division of Global Engagement at University of Oregon Scholarships is pleased to announce the 2023-2024 scholarships for international students in USA. The Division of Global Engagement is especially interested in receiving applications from students who will contribute to the academic excellence and global diversity of our campus, and whose work exemplifies a passion for addressing the collective challenges facing our world in an era of contentious globalization.
The University of Oregon scholarship award provides tuition support to new and continuing international students whose recruitment and retention advance the UO’s strategic interests in internationalizing the campus and maintaining a globally diverse student population. To be considered for the 2023-2024 academic year, the student must apply by February 1, 2023 for scholarships offered by University of Oregon and both new and continuing undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to apply.
International engagement is essential to the academic and cultural vibrancy of the University of Oregon, as it seeks to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century. The Global Corners Award assists the University of Oregon in its efforts to recruit and retain promising students who come from all corners of the globe, and whose presence on campus helps the university to advance its strategic interests in internationalization.
Consequently, the Global Corners Award helps to implement the UO’s Strategic Framework, which identifies “[enhancing] diversity and global reach by recruiting top international students” as a key strategic initiative, against the backdrop of “educating the whole person, and fostering the next generation of transformational leaders and informed participants in the global community.”
University of Oregon Scholarships Award Benefits and Coverage
The Global Corners and University of Oregon Scholarships award provides financial support up to, but not exceeding, US $45,000 ($15,000 per quarter; no award funds are distributed during the summer term). The exact award amount may depend on whether the student receives other forms of financial assistance – including scholarships, on-campus employment, stipends, etc. – to support their education at the University of Oregon. The award may be used to support required tuition and fees and/or nonqualified expenses such as room and board. (Note that any amount applied to non-qualified expenses may be considered a taxable contribution.)
The global corners award is renewable beyond the first award year, up to a maximum of 12 quarters for undergraduate students and 8 quarters for graduate students. The award may be prior to reaching the maximum award renewal level if any of the following circumstances apply: the student completes the UO academic program for which the student was granted the Global Corners award; the student receives other scholarships or grants rendering the Global Corners award unnecessary; the student departs the University of Oregon temporarily or permanently, or otherwise fails to meet award maintenance criteria and requirements.
