Fully-funded Budapest Scholarships in 2023 for Students:

  • CEU Master’s Excellence Scholarships

The CEU Master’s Excellence Scholarships offer foreign students a chance to fund their postgraduate education in Hungary. Offered by the Central European University in Hungary, these are fully funded awards that cover the medical insurance of the students.

Moreover, the students get a monthly stipend of 96,000 HUF for food and additional educational expenses, and housing accommodation. Whether a student gets individual housing or shared accommodation depends upon their academic merit. Recipients of the CEU Master’s Excellence Scholarships will only have to pay the enrollment fee once every year.

  • MNB Scholarship of Excellence

The MNB Scholarships Program is launched by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank – the central bank of Hungary. Students who qualify for the MNB Excellence Scholarship program receive a monthly grant of 30,000 HUF for ten months. 

The Magyar Nemzeti Bank finances the educational expenses of fifteen undergraduate students and one master’s level student each year. The only requirement is that students must be opting for their bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or International Business Economics. Similarly, it funds only those Master’s students who are applying to a Management and Leadership degree program.

  • International Business School Starter Scholarships

Granted by the International Business School in Budapest, the IBS Starter Scholarships provide partial fee funding to international students. It covers around 50% of the first-year tuition fee of those students who are applying to a Buckingham-validated Bachelor’s program in English. 

Applicants of the IBS Starter Scholarships must not be less than eighteen and older than twenty-five years at the time of admission. Moreover, they must have an IELTS band score of 6.5 or a TOEFL internet-based test score of 90.

  • Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarships

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarships are the most prestigious Budapest scholarships funded by the Hungarian Government. Under this program, genius students belonging to a list of countries can study for free in a Budapest university.

Along with fully-funded tuition, students also get a monthly stipend. BA, BSc, MS, and MSc. program applicants get a monthly stipend of 40,460 HUF while doctoral program applicants get a stipend of 140,000HUF per month for the first four semesters and 180,000 HUF for the next four years.

Other than this, the students also get hostel accommodation of 40,000HUF and medical insurance of up to 65,000HUF.

  • Erasmus+ Scholarships in Budapest

The Erasmus+ Scholarship program allows students to gain practical and cultural exposure both in and outside of Hungary. It supports Master’s level students to study, train, work and volunteer in a foreign country.

Students can avail the Erasmus+ scholarships and exchange program multiple times during their studies. The only condition is that their time abroad should not exceed twelve months.

  • Civil Society Leadership Scholarships

The Open Society Foundation offers financial funding to students through its Civil Society Leadership Awards (CSLA). Through these awards, the students can study in the US and Europe, including Central European Universities.  

To avail of the CSLA scholarship, students can choose from a variety of course programs in the English language. The Civil Society Leadership Awards cover a range of expenses including tuition and another university fee, program-related travel costs, and supplementary educational expenses. 

Other than these, the students get a monthly stipend to cover their living expenses and health insurance. Moreover, students qualifying for the CSLA scholarships would also be invited to attend a Regional Scholarships Program conference.

  • IBS Academic Scholarships

Apart from the Starter Scholarships, IBS also hosts a partial fee funding program for international students enrolled in a BSc. program. The IBS Academic Scholarships are divided into two categories to fund students’ tuition fees for one semester.

Category I covers 75% of the semester tuition while students availing of Category II get a 50% waiver on their tuition fee. To avail of the IBS Academic Scholarships to fund their tuition fee for the next semester, students must have covered all the modules in the first without failing any exams.

 However, they must have module-final marks of at least 75%. Moreover, recipients of any other scholarship cannot apply for the IBS Academic Scholarships.

  • CEU Research and Travel Funds

Another prestigious Budapest scholarship offered by the Central European University is the CEU Research and Travel Fund. This program aims at providing students as much professional exposure and travel opportunities as possible. 

The CEO Research and Travel Fund finances international travels and academic conference fees for the students. This program also covers travel-related costs like accommodation and administrative costs.

Moreover, Ph.D. level students can also avail Short-Research Grants during their second or third year for their dissertation.

  • CEU Alumni Scholarships

First-year students enrolling in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in CEU can avail the CEU General Alumni Scholarships to fund their academic expenses. These scholarships allow two bachelor’s and twenty-nine master’s students to engage in the rich cultural and academic events at the Central European University.

Students qualifying for the CEU General Alumni Scholarships will receive monthly stipend worth 110,947HUF for a maximum of one year. Other than this, the students will be featured on the official website and will be given access to engage in volunteer opportunities on campus.

  • Budapest Metropolitan University METU Study Grant

Bachelor’s or Master’s students who showcase remarkable results in their first semesters will be automatically granted the METU Study Grant. Under this program, the students receive 184,900HUF to cover their expenses. 

The METU Study Grant only funds twenty-one full-time students pursuing their degrees in the English language.
