University of Canterbury (UC) Scholarships 2023 to Study for free in New Zealand
UC College of Engineering International Scholarships 2023
The University of Canterbury (UC) Scholarships 2023-2024 for international students are now open for undergraduate and postgrad programs. It is one of the best chances for international students to take advantage of studying in New Zealand this year.
This University of Canterbury scholarship is awarded to the top international scholars and support them in their study towards an undergraduate Engineering degree at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. Thirty-five scholarships are available annually. The online application system for UC Scholarship will begin accepting applications eight weeks before the closing date.
UC College Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants cannot be:
a. citizens of New Zealand or Australia; or
b. Permanent Residents of Australia; or
c. holders of New Zealand residence class visas. - By the closing date for their application (see section 3), an applicant must have applied to the University for admission to a programme for a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (BE(Hons)) degree.
- Applicants cannot be already enrolled in a programme for a BE(Hons) degree at the University.
Benefits of UC College Scholarships
- The UC scholarship provides financial assistance at a value of $15,000.
- The UC scholarship is paid to a recipient’s University tuition fees account as soon as practicable after confirmation of enrolment as specified in clause 8.2.
How to Apply for the University of Canterbury Scholarships?
You may apply through this webpage approximately 8 weeks before applications close. If it’s possible to apply online for this scholarship there will be a link above to the online system. If the link is not provided, please download and complete the application form located below.
However, if the scholarship is managed by Universities NZ or another department of the University an External Website link will appear below and application instructions will be available through that link.
By the closing date for his or her application, an applicant must have applied to the University of Canterbury for admission to the Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (BE(Hons)) degree programme.
Applicants cannot already be enrolled in a BE(Hons) programme at the University of Canterbury.
UC College Scholarships Application process:
Applications must be made online at the Scholarships website3 by:
- 15 February (for those who are studying in New Zealand on that date); or
- 31 January (for those who are studying overseas on that date); or
UC Scholarship Selection process
- Thirty-five scholarships are available annually.
- The scholarship is awarded by the Council of the University on the recommendation of a selection committee comprising:
a. the Vice-Chancellor (or nominee); and
b. the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Engineering (or nominee).
Selection criteria:
- In making its recommendation, the committee considers, in descending order of priority: a. academic achievement;
b. demonstrated commitment to, and interest in, Engineering;
c. cultural and/or sporting participation, and/or community service; and
d. general character. - If in any year, there are fewer candidates of sufficient merit than there are scholarships available, fewer awards are made.
