1: Chinese Government Scholarships – CSC Scholarships

International students, scholars, and teachers can benefit from Chinese Government Scholarships to study and do research in China. These scholarships are provided with the aim of promoting mutual understanding between China and other countries. China Scholarship Council is responsible for the administration of these scholarships.

There are several different scholarship programs currently being provided by the Chinese Government at different institutions. Over 274 Universities offer CSC Scholarships. These CSC scholarships are offered to international students for their education at 274 Chinese universities. They cover both major study and Chinese language preparatory studies. Costs covered by the scholarships include tuition and accommodation fees. The stipend is also provided to scholarship holders. 2: Jiangsu Government Scholarships

Provided by Jiangsu Provincial Government, this scholarship aims to promote the development of higher education in Jiangsu. It is provided to students who want to pursue full-time studies in Jiangsu Province as well as to exchange students or non-degree students through agreements with governments and universities.

The Jiangsu scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation, and comprehensive medical insurance. There is also a partial scholarship in the province through which students get a certain amount every academic year. 3: Hubei Provincial government Scholarships

This Hubei Provincial government scholarship scheme is open for international students who want to undertake studies at a university in Hubei. It is administered by the Ministry of Education of Hubei province and supports tuition for university students. Scholarship holders are provided a certain amount every year for their tuition fees and accommodation and monthly stipend as well.

There are different categories of Hubei government scholarships available namely Undergraduate Scholarship, Graduate Scholarship, Doctorate Scholarship, General Scholar Scholarship, and Advanced Scholarship These Hubei government scholarships are further classified as partial and fully funded scholarships. In order to be eligible, students must not be getting aid from the Chinese government or from any other organization of China, should be hardworking, and be in excellent health. 4: Beijing Government Scholarships

The scholarship is provided by the Beijing Municipal Government. It covers the tuition fees of international students fully or partially. This scholarship is available for undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs in Beijing. Students have to reapply for the scholarship every year. Only those students, who don’t hold any other scholarship and are in good health can apply for the scholarship to study in Beijing. 5: UNESCO/People’s Republic of China (The Great Wall) Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme

This fellowship program is provided by UNESCO in collaboration with the Government of the People’s Republic of China. Students from certain member countries can benefit from this program. The program allows students and scholars to pursue advanced studies and research at selected Chinese universities. 6: International Chinese Language Teachers (Confucius Institute) Scholarships

Currently, seven types of scholarships are offered by the Confucius Institute Headquarters. These are meant for students who want to study in China and are committed to Chinese language education and other related work. These scholarships in China are available for both undergraduate and graduate studies.

The Confucious scholarships cover tuition fees and provide scholarship holders with a stipend, accommodation, and medical insurance. 7: Jiangsu University (JSU) Presidential Scholarships

Jiangsu University grants scholarships to international students getting enrolled in English-taught degree programs. The scholarships are available for master’s and Ph.D. students as well as some bachelor’s students at the university. Full and partial scholarships are provided by the university. 8: Zhengzhou University President Scholarships

This scholarship is meant for international postgraduate students at Zhengzhou University. The goal of the scholarship is to promote international student exchange and cooperation as well as to attract foreign students to study at the university. The scholarship is provided for 4 years in order to help students complete a doctoral program from the university. The scholarship covers tuition and accommodation fee. 9: The Schwarzman Scholars Program

This Schwarzman program is meant for students who wish to pursue a one-year master’s degree in Global Affairs at the Tsinghua University of Beijing, which is one of the most prestigious institutions in China. In order to be eligible for this program, students must have completed their undergraduate degree from an accredited institute of their country, be less than 29 years old and be proficient in the English language.

Students selected for the program get a comprehensive scholarship that covers tuition fees, room and board, health insurance, cost of travel to and from Beijing, cost of the in-country study tour, and books and supplies. 10: Tianjin University International Student Scholarships

The Tianjin University-sponsored scholarship is open to current and prospective students of Tianjin University. It is meant for bachelor’s level students at the university. Scholarship holders are provided a certain amount to finance their studies at the university. Only certain programs at the university are covered by this scholarship.

Students must have a high-school diploma, be proficient in Chinese or English depending on their chosen program, and have good health to be eligible for the scholarship. 11: NPU Scholarships

Northwestern Polytechnical University also sponsors fully funded and partial scholarships in China for international students each year. These NPU presidential scholarships are available to the students interested to pursue undergrad, master, and doctoral programs. NPU scholarships cover full tuition fees, monthly stipends, free accommodation, health insurance, and conference attending expenditures.

12: Jiangsu University Presidential Scholarships

Jiangsu University Presidential scholarship also sponsors fully funded and partial scholarships for international students each year. These JU presidential scholarships are available to the students interested to pursue undergrad, master, and doctoral programs. 14: CAS-TWAS Scholarships

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has partnered with The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) to offer this fellowship program. The CAS-TWAS Chinese Scholarship Program came about as a result of this collaboration. Through this program, 200 individuals from all over the world will be provided with a scholarship to pursue a doctorate degree in China. Today, this scholarship is held in very high regard in the country. Recipients of this fellowship can pursue various doctoral programs at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), or at any of the numerous CAS Institutes in the country.

All CAS-TWAS awardees will receive monthly stipends as a part of the scholarship, which is usually between RMB 7000 and RMB 8000. This will be funded by CAS through UCAS or USTC. This stipend is intended to be used for all accommodation and everyday living expenditures, any travel-related expenses, as well as health insurance. This stipend will only be paid once an awardee is successful in the qualification test held by UCAS or USTC for the recipients of the fellowship.

15: Dalian Government Scholarships

Dalian Government Scholarship is being offered in all major universities situated in the Dalian Province of China. 19: MOFCOM Scholarships

MOFCOM Scholarship is set up by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China to further strengthen the communication and cooperation between China and other countries as well as to develop talents for developing countries. Starting from 2015, MOFCOM Scholarship mainly sponsors young and middle-aged talents from recipient countries to pursue their postgraduate education in China and entrusts China Scholarship Council to manage the Scholarship.

20: Harbin Institute Scholarships

Harbin University scholarship also sponsors fully funded and partial scholarships for international students each year. These Harbin University scholarships are available to the students interested to pursue undergrad, master, and doctoral programs. The Harbin University scholarships cover full tuition fees, monthly stipends, free accommodation, health insurance, and conference attending expenditures.

21: USTC Scholarships

USTC Scholarship—Chinese University Program is a scholarship established by the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC)  to support USTC to recruit outstanding international students for studies in China. USTC scholarship also sponsors fully funded and partial scholarships for international students each year. These USTC scholarships are available to the students interested to pursue undergrad, master, and doctoral programs. The USTC University scholarships cover full tuition fees, monthly stipends, free accommodation, health insurance, and conference attending expenditures.
