Study in Portugal: List of Scholarships in Portugal - Portuguese Scholarships for international Students

Portugal has recently been one of the most attractive places to study among foreign students. The reasons are competitive institutions, beautiful landscapes, fine cuisines, rich history, diversity in educational institutions, availability of scholarships, etc.

Portugal welcomes international students and helps them finance their studies through a number of scholarship grants which are sponsored by the Portuguese government and higher educational institutions.

The scholarship programs funded by the government are mainly by Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES). The international students’ scholarships are funded by the Portuguese Development Institute Apoioao or the Instituto Camoes (Instituto Portugues de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento or the Instituto Camoes). As Portugal is a member of the EU, it takes part in all of the EU-sponsored scholarships like Erasmus Mundus scholarship programs, etc.

The higher educational institutions of Portugal also offer a lot of scholarships to international students in the fields of business, science, and technology. But, a fair number of scholarships are only restricted towards some special programs like the ones related to the Portuguese language and culture.
